MATH-COUNTS
COMPETITION
Math Counts is
a middle school math competition sponsored by the North Florida Engineering
Society. The math teacher, based on the students ability to solve
quickly and correctly math problems, ability to work with a group of
students and behavior in class, selects a team of 7th and 8th graders.
The team meets every Thursday morning before school until the
competition. This year's competition will be held on Saturday,
February 23rd at Episcopal High School. Students will compete as a
team and as individuals in a grueling, but fun, eight hours.
MATH-COUNTS COMPETITION
The following group of students has been preparing for the Math Counts
Competition held each year in Duval County under the guidance of Mrs. Debbie
Cannon: Jason Antico, Chase Grause, Tommy Rizzo, Marta Perez, Casey Kelley,
Emily Deegan, Alex Tiemeier, & Bill Waller.
On Saturday, February 23rd, these students participated in
Math Counts at Episcopal High School and competed with students from Duval

tested individually. After lunch, the participants were involved in team
competition.
Two of our students made the Top Student Honors list: Marta Perez and
Jason Antico.
Thanks to our participants for representing St. Paul’s Catholic School
and thanks to Ms. Katsikas for accompanying them for the day.
