FUNDRAISER INFORMATION

November 16, 2001

Dear Parents:

It’s time!!!  We are entering into our Fund-raising Program I have been telling you about in the SCRIP TIP.  Enclosed is the entire packet you will need when selling SCRIP for fund-raising.  This information will help you and your children sell SCRIP FOR SCHOOL. Many people called and requested that the fundraiser be moved from Easter to Christmas to capture more individuals who will be purchasing.  So we have accompanied that request.

One other change this year is we are including two Fundraiser order forms.  The blue one updated from last year contains our most commonly purchased certificates.  The white Fundraiser SCRIP Order Form is our regular order form modified to be a fundraiser form.  This is for those purchasers who want the entire list to purchase from.  Feel free to make as many copies of the white form as you need.  This gives the students and purchasers the option of purchasing from our entire line of certificates.  Certificates like Tony Roma’s, Payless Shoes, Peterbrooke Chocolatier, Sun Golf, Marshall’s/TJMaxx, and many more are not included on the blue form but are on the white form and can also be ordered for the fundraiser.

The fund-raising program begins as soon as you receive your packet and ends on
December 7th.   The money needs to be collected when orders are placed.  Checks and cash are accepted.  All orders and money are due NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, DECEMBER 7TH. Delivery will be on Friday, December 14.  You may turn fundraiser orders in early if you wish thus  receiving your certificates earlier also.  We will continue to order on Tuesday and fill orders on Friday.

Our goal is to raise $20,000.  I know it sounds like a lot but it really isn’t.  If every
student in the school would only sell $500, our profit would be approximately $21,600.  If every student would sell $1000, our profit would be approximately $43,200. Everyone (almost) purchases items for Christmas and the holidays.  These certificates can be used in at least  ways:

1.  Individuals purchase certificates to give as gifts. Suggestions would be
JCPenney, Sears, Dillards, Al’s Pizza, Carrabbas, Outback       Steakhouse,
Toys-R-Us, etc.

2.  Individuals purchase certificates and uses those certificates to
purchase items to give as gifts.

3.  Individuals purchase certificates to purchase their own needed items.
Suggestions would be Winn Dixie, Harris Teeter, Shell Gas       Card, Home Depot, Kmart, etc.

The fund-raising program has a few perks!  The following are the prizes for individuals and classes.

Individual:          Highest dollar amount in sales-  $25.00 gift certificate
Most people purchasing -  $20.00 gift certificate

Classes:  Highest dollar amount in sales - pizza party
Most people purchasing - ice cream party

The fund-raising program has a few rules to be eligible for winning prizes based on the “profit” earned by the school:   Highest dollar amount in sales you must sell at least $1,000 in certificates.

1.  To be eligible for the Highest dollar amount in sales you must have at least $1000 in sales.

2. To be eligible for the Most people purchasing you must have at least 10 people     purchasing certificates and at least $750 in sales..

3. To be eligible for the pizza class party, your class must have at least 75% participation in the selling of certificates and at least $5,000 in sales.

4. To be eligible for the ice cream party, your class must have at least 50% participation in the selling of certificates and at least $2,500 in sales..

I’m sorry to have to put these rules in place but please understand that the reason for the eligibility exists because the cost of the prizes come out of our profit and if we don’t have any profit, we don’t have any prizes.

This is a great opportunity to meet your neighbors, visit your friends, invite your relatives over for dinner, and purchase gift certificates for yourself!!! So get those tennis shoes on, get on the phone, and start those engines!!!

There are additional blue order forms in the office if you need additional forms.  Remember to circle the 50% School/50% Tuition or 100% School Proceeds on your blue order form.  If you do not circle either option, all proceeds from your family number will be donated to the school.  The 50/50 option is split: 50% goes towards the reduction of your tuition and the other 50% goes to the school.  You decide.

I’m going to help you with some selling techniques when selling SCRIP!!!! It is really very easy and the kids will love selling something so fun!  Remember, we are selling gift certificates to places where people ALREADY GO and spend their money!! Your friends and neighbors won’t feel obligated to buy something they don’t want just because it’s your child!!  They will appreciate being able to purchase a gift certificate to a place they already go and help your child and our school in our fund-raising efforts!!  This is even better than Girl Scout cookies!!

Here’s some tips when selling gift certificates!!!!

Child: Hi, Aunt Marlene, I am selling gift certificates for my school fund-raiser, would you like to see what I am selling??

Customer: Sure I would love to!

Child: I am selling gift certificates to a lot of great places like restaurants, shopping, grocery stores, and places to have fun.  It’s holiday time so this is a great time to buy certificates for you or for someone on your Christmas list.

Customer: How would I use the certificates for myself and for someone else?

Child: They’re not just used to buy gifts for other people any more.  You buy them to use yourself.  For instance, you could buy a gift certificate to Al’s pizza and use it the next time you order a pizza..  Or next time you go shopping at Dillard’s instead of paying with cash, use your Dillard’s gift card you can buy from me.  These certificates are used just like cash in any store and can even be used with sales.  And if you wanted to give the gift certificate to someone on your Christmas list you can do that also.

Customer: Well, I do go out to eat a lot for lunch.

Child: There is Burger King, Wendy’s, and other gift certificates you can use when you go out for lunch.

Child: And do you get your gas at any of these places?  You can use buy a gas card from me and use it the next time you need gas.

Customer: That’s a great idea!!

Child: You can even buy your Adventure Landing season passes with gift certificates.

Customer: WOW! I am going to need 4 season passes.

Child: You can buy the gift certificates from me to buy them and it doesn’t cost any more than if you were going to Adventure Landing to buy them but you do help my school.

See how easy that was.  It really is easy when everyone understands how the program works.  Remember, the student family will still receive the credit towards their tuition in addition to raising funds for the school.  How much better can that get?

By selling gift certificates for things people already buy everyday you can earn money for your school as well as reduce your tuition.

The gift certificates are used just like cash in the store, and you can still use coupons and buy things on sale.

Fundraising helps keep our tuition costs down as well as provides for school equipment and supplies, new teachers,  and many other items that could be added to your tuition.  Please help us help our school by doing your part.  Let’s make this our best fundraiser yet!!!!!

If there are any questions during this fund-raising promotion, please feel free to call me at 992-8809 or e-mail me at Rumtum3988 @aol.com

God Bless,
